Invitation by Shel Silverstein
“If you are a dreamer, come in
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer…
If you’re a pretender, come sit by the fire
For we have some flax-golden tales to spin.

It starts with an invitation from a trusted friend to “come close” and “enter in”; to be honest, to be ourselves, and to put trust ahead of fear. It begins in our dreams, our prayers, and through our hopes that pretending can cease and truth-telling can begin; that we are loved and accepted for who we are, and granted mercy and grace to become all that we were created to be.
For me, it starts with Jesus and His invitation to “come in”… “I tell you the truth: I am the gate of the sheep. All who approached the sheep before Me came as thieves and robbers, and the sheep did not listen to their voices. I am the gate; whoever enters through Me will be liberated, will go in and go out, and will find pastures. The thief approaches with malicious intent, looking to steal, slaughter, and destroy; I came to give life with joy and abundance.” (John 10:7-10, The Voice Bible)
